The Plum Creek Art Center was established in 2011 as an all volunteer group with non-profit 501(c)(3) status. An Art Festival was held once a year until 2018, a weekly children's art education program entitled "ArtsCool", along with our "Partners of the Arts" , exhibits, and a diverse selection of classes throughout the year keeps the group busy.
The Art Gallery is located in the old State Savings Bank, built in the 1900's on the north side of Main Street (US Hwy 18). The inspiration for the Art Gallery was Connie Mohr, a 60 year resident of Fredericksburg who was a respected member of the Iowa Watercolor Society.
With fundraising efforts in 2016, the group raised monies to build a 65' x 20' classroom addition to the current building. Slush and Brush painting classes are held once a month on the third Thursday. The painting for the month is pictured in the Upcoming Events page. Special painting classes for groups can be arranged.
The multi-functional classroom is available for luncheons, club meetings and special occasions.
A large selection of art from 65 Iowa artists are available for purchase.
The facade of the Art Gallery is undergoing a BIG change. As you can see in the picture above, the outside of the old bank had siding put on it in the '80s. Today as our transformation is happening, the siding has been removed. Underneath, the siding is red brick which we had tuck pointed/repaired during the fall of 2024 with grant monies. Now in the beginning of 2025, we are waiting on Mother Nature to settle down (no high winds with dust) so a base coat of paint can be applied prior to our muralist painting our new mural on the building. This picture is a depiction of what the facade will look like once completed.

CHRISTMAS 2023
The sounds & sights of Christmas are around us as we start preparations to celebrate the coming days of Christmas and the New Year 2024.
Here at Plum Creek Art Center we have ordered new Kitris glass ornaments for the tree or your garden, rearranged displays, had the artists change their displays with new items and put out our holiday decorations.
We are excited to celebrate the holidays with you!
As you enter the Gallery, Santa may be there to greet you (if someone doesn't take him home!).

Suzan has gone completely holiday crazy with her earring displays. Christmas trees, snowmen, candy, presents and swinging penguins are patiently waiting for someone to come and take them to a party!

Ralph must be wishing for snow! He has snowflakes floating around and images of trees on his bowls. He also has the true meaning of Christmas on his mind with his nativity scenes (one is a puzzle for the younger folks).

Dan likes to play, with different types of wood or just games, but he likes to eat too (if you knew Dan you'd know what I mean)!!

With all the bowls, charcuterie boards, other cooking utensils, and coffee mugs, you would think that's all we do is EAT & DRINK!

Now Linda has other ideas on her mind. Carrying a pretty wallet or purse will make you feel good and put a smile on your face. When people see a smile it becomes contagious, thus spreading smiles all around.
