This exhibit is not just for adults!! The kids are invited to come to the zoo and name the types of animals and/or spell out their name using the animal names.
The exhibit is showcasing:
"Ann's Alphabet Animals A to Z"
Ann Olsson, grew up near Buffalo, New York, and is now from Waterloo. She has brought her zoo animals to us, A to Z. Growing up she was a nature lover, tramping around in the woods and drawing pictures of horses. The only formal art training she had until she graduated from college was in elementary school.
She was a chemical engineer for John Deere before retirement. Her first formal training in art was after retirement and it was a watercolor class with Esther Cheng from Cedar Falls. It must have been love at the first stroke with the watercolor class, she has continued to learn using multiple mediums in creating her zoo animals; oils, watercolors, paper, etc. because she hasn't stopped yet in showcasing Nature's animals or their surroundings. Ann wants you to feel as though you're a part of the animal's environment, not to just look at the animal or how she portrayed them.
